Best Drugstore Skin Care Products

Hi all! So I have not posted in a couple of weeks because I've been busy traveling and brainstorming. I have a lot of ideas for my upcoming posts this summer and I'm really excited!

I recently have been thinking about how you can find pretty decent cosmetics without spending a fortune. Mind you, I have not tried EVERY drugstore product, unfortunately, but I have tried a lot! These are just a few of my picks that have really stood out to me in the past couple of years.

Best Makeup Wipes
I'm a big fan of makeup wipes because they are just an easy way to remove makeup and reduces the amount of time washing my face. I have tried many different makeup wipes and so far these wipes are my favorite because they don't irritate my skin. I think everyone should use makeup wipes for sensitive skin because it's important to not strip the skin because cleansing. Although I don't think makeup wipes should EVER take the place of washing your face at the end of the day, but these wipes gave my face a nice clean, refreshed feeling.

Best Face Wash (for Acne Prone Skin)
Growing up, I have always struggled with breakouts and I have tried many acne products. So far, at the drugstore I think this cleanser is the best one. The wash is a gel and foams up when you wash your face. It treats the acne without over drying and leaves your face feeling revitalized thanks to the grapefruit extract. The vitamin C also brightens the skin. If you have dry, normal, or combination skin I would stay away from this cleanser. People who did not have oily and acne prone skin found this cleanser over drying.

 Best Toner
If you have combination/oily skin and you struggle with enlarged pores- this product is for you. After using this toner, my skin felt noticeably smoother and my pores looked smaller. If you have dry or normal skin I would not recommend this product, it could be over drying. This toner has Alpha and Beta Hydroxy Acids so it helps exfoliate the skin, making you more susceptible to sun burn. While using this product you must wear sunscreen to avoid damaging your skin.

Best Moisturizer (Oily/Acne Prone Skin)
Oh my goodness this product is AMAZING for oily/acne prone skin. In the past, I could never find a the right facial moisturizer at the drugstore. They were always too over drying or simply not drying enough. This lotion is perfect because it's super light weight, clears blemishes, calms redness, and smooths the skin without it feeling greasy or over drying like most acne products are. The major con to this product is it's SO hard to fine. For a long time I thought it was discontinued because none of the drugstores I visited carried it. You can order this lotion online if your drugstores do not carry it. I do not recommend for normal, dry, combination, or sensitive skin. I highly recommend for oily and acne prone skin types.

I recently made a dermatologist visit after many years of becoming fed up not only with my breakouts, but post acne scars. My dermatologist instructed me to not use a moisturizer in the morning, but use this face lotion at night to avoid dehydration of my skin. Besides my face foaming wash and antibiotic creams, this product has improved my skin. This product contains ceramides and hyaluronic acid, which are important in forming the protective layer of your skin. After using this product, my skin feels "baby soft". The product says it's for normal to dry skin, but I truly believe this lotion is suitable for every skin type.

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday all!

I have been trying a lot of new products I've been obsessed with recently so I figured this would be a great day to share them. Here are four of my favorite beauty products of the week:

Favorite Value Set

Too Faced* Beauty Blogger Darlings

I came across this in the ULTA check out line and I ended up trading what I was gonna get for this set. First of all, its called "Beauty Blogger Darlings" and I haven't tried any of the products so of course I HAD to get it. Secondly, it was only $20 which in my opinion is a really great deal because a little bit goes a long way with all of these products. The set comes with a bronzer, foundation primer, mascara, and eye primer. Individually, these are all sold $103, so I think trying these products out with a generous amount is a pretty good deal.

Favorite Eyeshadow Palette

Too Faced* Chocolate Bar Eye Palette

After I saw blogger after blogger rave about this, I decided to try it because I think this palette is unique. It had some colors I'm not used to working with. Not only does it look like a box of chocolates, it actually SMELLS like chocolate. All of these 16 matte and shimmer shadows are infused with real coco powder. I think these eye shadows are really versatile and looks good on every skin tone, every eye color, and has shades for day and night. They are all really pigmented so this palette would last you a long time.

Favorite Blush

MAC Powder Blush in Melba

Ahhh MAC, whats not to love? This was actually one out of the three first purchases of MAC for me ever recently. I remember YouTube Beauty Vlogger and former MAC makeup artist Jaclyn Hill raved about this blush. I went into the store and I asked what the consultant what blush she thinks is the best and she said Melba! This blush is a beautiful very light matte peachy pink shade but just looks like a pale pink in the container. I love this blush and it truly goes well with all skin tones. If you have are interested in MAC blushes this is the one you need.

Favorite Face Wash
SkinMedica Purifying Foaming Wash

I recently went to my dermatologist and he recommended this face wash for my acne. I was pretty worried at first because foam face washes usually dry me out, but this one doesn't at all! My face feels so clean and it's non irritating. I will discuss more in my  "Skin Intervention" post coming soon :)

* I know I talked about Too Faced a lot in this post, but I am in no way sponsored or affiliated by Too Faced*

That's it for my Friday Favorites, I hope everyone has a great weekend!

3 Wearable Looks of Met Gala 2014

Hi everyone!
Last night was the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala; informally known at Met Gala or Met Ball. Celebrities like Selena Gomez, Kristen Stewart, and Blake Lively showed up to the event looking glamorous as always. Here are some of my favorite wearable looks of the night, exact products used, and how you can recreate these looks!

Selena Gomez: The Plum Makeup
I loved Selena's look of va-va-voom lashes, cat eye, and raspberry/plum lips that complimented her dress. Gorgeous!
Get the look:
1) Apply a white matte eyeshadow all over the lid like MAC's eyeshadow in Gesso
2) Apply a matte raspberry plum color in the crease like MAKE UP FOR EVER Matte Eyeshadow in Plum
3) Apply any blackest black gel liner you have, slightly bringing the liner outward creating a cat eye. Makeup Geek Gel Liner in Black is supposed to be a great very black gel liner.
4) Apply voluminous false lashes like ARDELL's false lashes in Double Up 205

Kristen Stewart: The Mysterious Smoky Eye
I'm not a huge fan of Kristen Stewart, but I thought this look really brought out her green eyes and complimented her red hair. According to US Magazine, Kristen's makeup artist Jillian Dempsey used Chanel's Quadra Eyeshadow in Mystere

Get the look:
1) Apply the middle tone all over the lid
2) Apply the darker shade in the crease extending it slightly outward
3) To add sparkle, apply Chanel's Illusion D'Ombre in Vision

Blake Lively: The Retro Waves
Blake Lively looked oh so glamorous last night in her sequin blush gown, complimentary earrings and lipstick, and lets not forget about the stunning mermaid waves.

Get the look:
According to US Magazine, Lively's hairstylist Rod Ortega used a T3 1.25-inch SinglePass Twirl Curling Iron. You can get the T3 curling iron at Sephora, Walmart, or even amazon. After Ortega curled with the T3, he pinned the curls in place, let them cool, then used a paddle brush to soften them after unpinning. He secured the side of the hair by twirling the section of the hair around his finger and pinned it in place. Sounds pretty easy right?

I hope you love these looks as much as I do! Keep on the look out for more posts and let me know if you have any questions :)

Travel Beauty Survival Kit

Hello everyone!

I recently took a trip to Paris, France almost a month ago. As you know, the flight to Europe is quite long. Here are some beauty items I wish I had on the long travel day(s):

When traveling, my hair usually produces build up and starts to get gross. So far, this is the best dry shampoo I have tried. It absorbs almost all the oil in my hair and makes it smell fresh again. I love this company for dry shampoo because they have a variety of dry shampoos with different scents and ones that accommodate different hair colors.

In my carry on, I brought some Mineral Powder Foundation. It was good to eliminate shine, but I definitely needed more coverage because all of my liquid foundation had rubbed off. I wish I had creme to powder foundation because it would give me extra coverage but try as a powder.

If your traveling, chances are you probably will be washing or sanitizing your hands a lot (i hope) making them dry. I received this cream in this complimentary kit in first class and I really liked it. It was super creamy but not greasy.

This item was also in the complimentary kit I received. I think this product is so perfect for traveling because it has multitasking purposes for all skin types and doesn't require water.

Traveling with people from all over the world in one compacted area... need I say more? These are necessities.

Traveling over seas can sometimes take over 24 hours... which is a whole day where you would be brushing your teeth twice. Trust me, you will be glad you have it.

This product is a all-in-one product that is cream to powder that can be used on the eyes, cheeks, and lips. The Multiple is offered in 14 different shades, matte and shimmery. This product makes so much sense while traveling because its not liquid and can be used in place for eye shadow, blush, and lipstick. I've never personally tried this product but I definitely will in the future because I think it would also be perfect for mornings I need to get ready quickly.

Hydrate, reduce dark circles, puffiness, and dryness with Dior's BB cream for the eyes. Once again, I honestly have not used this product personally, however, I think this is also perfect for traveling because its multitasking and is suitable for all skin especially mature skin types. I am really looking forward to purchasing this product in the future, because like the NARS Multiple, I think it's great for mornings in a hurry.

* Please keep in mind that I'm not saying you have to use these EXACT products. You can definitely try products that have similar purposes. These are just the products I would personally choose for myself.*

Dont hesitate to ask any questions...

I'm so excited to be back in the swing of blogging and I have so many ideas ahead! Thanks so much for reading and look for another blog post this week!
