Product Rave: Primal Elements

Hey y'all! I haven't posted in a couple weeks because I was busy traveling and I was getting ready to start nursing school tomorrow.

Last month when I was in Colorado, I was browsing through a boutique at a ski resort and came across these wonderful products. Not planning on buying anything, I tried the Primal Elements hand lotion and fell in love so I also bought the scrub.

What is Primal Elements?
Primal Elements is a company that sells hand made, high quality bath and skin care products. All products are not tested on animals and are environmental safe.

The scrub is called Sugar Whip which I think is perfect because it consits of pure cane sugar with moisturizing ingredients. When you first apply the scrub you can feel that it's really exfoliating and then when you mix it with water it turns into a more creamy texture. Not to mention it is cupcake scented and it smells amazing. I think I love the packaging probably the most. It's pink with rhinestones so it's perfect for a gift that you wouldn't have to wrap!

Not only do I love the scrub, but I love this lotion even more. This product was what really sold me. The lotion has the perfect consistency because it's not too greasy and not drying. When the lotion completely dried, my hands felt the smoothest I have ever felt it. Many creams I have tried don't seem to penetrate through the skin deep enough like this one does. Just like the scrub, it smells like fresh, yellow cake.

Benefits of Getting a Facial Monthly

What is your skin concern? Acne? Wrinkles? Dark spots?
For years, acne was my main skin struggle. I started getting facials when my breakouts first erupted. I found that it really helped control my skin.
My breakouts are controlled now thanks to removing stress and my recent trip to the dermatologist. I started to get facials again specifically for the extractions to remove any clogged pores and blackheads. I recently have gotten two facials in the past two months and I have noticed a huge difference! Anyone can benefit from facials and heres why:

So why should YOU get a facial monthly?
1) Facials increase blood circulation under the skin by massaging and can prevent aging.
Estheticians are skin care experts. They know what products to use and how to use them. They know how to massage the skin properly that can stimulate your skin cells and allow skin rejuvination to take place. Think of a facial as a skin booster.
2) A monthly consultation from your estitician of what habits and products you should be using on your skin for improvement.
The more you build a relationship with the esthetician, the more she will not only get to know you but your skin. Overtime, she will know what to expect and can give you extra customary advice.
3) Extractions cannot only help your acne, clogged pores, blackheads, whiteheads and shrink pores, but also it will allow whatever skin care products you apply to your face to penetrate deeper, therefore, making them even more effective.
Extractions can do what your scrubs at home can't.  Never had extractions? Bascially, the esthetician will first open of the pores with a steamer and then put a bright light on your face you see what you may not see at home. Then they will remove any clogged pores one by one with a specialized skin care needle. They're kind of painful but it is the most effective step in a facial. Just be careful to never try this yourself or anyone else who is not properly trained. It will cause even more damage to the skin. Take it from me!
After extractions, your skin will usually take two to three days for the inflammation and redness to go down. So if you're planning on getting one before a special occation, get it a few days in advance.
Bottom line is, if you're going to get one spa treatment in your lifetime, get a facial. It will be 100% worth it. Not all facials are super expensive. You can actually get some facials that are not long and are a decent price.

Recommended Med Spa:

The past two facial appointments have been at face it! Med Spa in Kingwood, TX. If anyone is in the Houston area, I highly recommend this spa. I love all of the staff because they are always polite and very helpful. I used to be nervous with extractions but the estheticians at face it are very well trained and give you estractions that are not painful. While I was there, they gave me tons of samples of the skin care line they carry which I LOVE (in depth post TBA) and they have other skin care or makeup tools there to purchase so you don't have to make a trip to the busy mall.
Face it has so much to offer other than facials like lasers and injections. If you want more information on face it Med Spa click here to go to their official website.

Friday Favorites

Yay yay yay it's Friday! I apologize I haven't posted in the past two days. I've been busy on vacation. These favorites are mainly regarding moisturizing possibly because I'm in a much dryer climate. All of the products listed are affordable and easily accessible. Here are my five favorite products of the week and why:

Evian Mineral Water Facial Spray $12* for 5 oz, $17.50* for 10.1 oz
I posted a picture a few days ago briefly discussing how this product is great for dry skin or anyone who lives in dry climates. It has been a lifesaver since I came to Colorado. My skin is normally a little dryer here so I have less blemishes but I still like to keep my skin hydrated. This spray is perfect if you need to moisturize your face quickly without stickiness and before applying or setting your makeup. I like to use this while I'm snowboarding too in between runs to keep my skin from getting chapped. If your hair is damaged, tame your flyaways with this spray versus hair spray (thank you Melissa Joan Hart). It also has a cooling effect when you spray it so you could actually bring it to the beach to cool off and feel refreshed. Dry skin girls double up with this to look fresh and dewy.
Where to buy: CVS, Walgreens, Nordstroms, Sephora

Burts Bees Soothing Lip Balm $3.3o*
This 100% natural lip balm is a little different than the usual Burts Bees. It contains beeswax like the original but it contains Eucalyptus and Menthol. Not only does it moisturize with added shea butter, but it also tastes like mint and gives you a cooling feeling on your lips. However, if you have severe dry lips I would stick to Carmex.
Where to buy: BurtsBees.com, Ulta, CVS, Walgreens, Walmart...

Matrix Biolage Conditioning Balm *$28
This paraben and dye free conditioner is thick enough for the driest of hair but leaves the hair soft and light. This product contains Aloe and passion fruit and can be used daily. I love all Matrix brand products. I started using ever since I can remember getting my hair cut and I always will go back to their products when I'm looking for stuff because I know I will be happy with it. After all these years, I still haven't found one product I disliked from the brand.
Where to buy: Matrix.com/Biolage, Target, CVS, Walgreens, Amazon, Groupon (ending in less than 24 hours)...

Mederma PM Intensive Overnight Scar Cream $27.99* for 1 oz,
This is a ultra concentrated scar cream that contains peptides, antioxidants, and collagen you use before you go to bed. Since I have started using it after my surgery over a month ago, I have seen a big difference in my scars. My scars have flattened more, faded from a purple shade to a red shade, and one out of my three scars is almost completely gone. I use the regular formula in the day and this cream before I go to bed. Keep in mind scars in general are hard to get rid of so be patient. It will take about two weeks to see visible results.

Dream Angels Love is Heavenly Eau De Parfum Victoria Secret *$42 for 1 fl oz, *52 for 2.5 fl oz
I have a sample size of this I received from a limited edition holiday set which I use for traveling. This scent is perfect for summer because it's not too sweet or warm it just smells fresh. The main scents blended are water lily, mandarin flowers, and orange zest. Perfumes are a little tricky because they are very personal. If you like fresh scents, you will love this.
