Sephora Haul & Review

Sephora Haul & Review

Hi all! I got some downtime from nursing school so I figured I should go ahead and do another blog post since I haven't in so long.

This blog post is going to be about what I have purchased periodically in the past 5 months or so from Sephora. I've had a while to try all of these products so I definitely know the pros and cons.

1. Acne Solutions Clear Skin System Starter Kit $37

About two months ago I was having random series of cystic acne. I decided just to try something different. About 7 yrs ago when my blemishes were a lot worse I used this and it worked for me. However, I used this recently and it was way too harsh on my skin. If you have severe acne or very oily skin this product would be great for you. I have oiliness in my t-zone and my skin is kind of sensitive so I didn't think this was a good product for me.

2. Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask To Clear Pores (1.7 oz) $17

I bought this mask because I thought it might be a good alternative to the GlamGlow charcoal mud mask. Comparing the two masks, GlamGlow is a much better mask because I feel like it really penetrates deep into the pores. I didn't feel like this mask did that. After using this mask, my skin felt cleaner and softer but it did not have the intense charcoal effect I was expecting.

3. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Taupe $21

I have heard so much hype about Anastasia's brow products and I was running out of my brow pencil so I decided to try this. Compared to my Mary Kay Mechanical Brow Pencil, I don't see what all the hype is about. I think the brow pencil and the spoolie brush in one is handy, but I think you can get the same polished brow effect with any other product.

4. Too Faced Twice The Sex Mascara Duo in Black $23

I thought this duo was a great deal considering the full size tube is also $23. So in the set you get a free travel sized mascara. I've tried this mascara in the past and I really like it. I feel like this mascara is great because it thickens, separates, and curls your lashes without getting clumpy. The only major downside to this product is the price.

5. bareMinerals Original Foundation SPF 15 in Fair $

I feel like you can never go wrong with this foundation. This foundation is perfect to apply following BB cream to set and add more coverage, or to wear on the beach that gives you sun protection and coverage. You can layer this foundation without worrying it's caked on because of its natural finish. I've heard many mature women use this foundation and they have expressed that this foundation does not settle into their fine lines.

6. Drybar Triple Sec 3-in-1 $25

This product is very interesting. It claims to be a dry shampoo, volumizer, and texturizer all in one. I bought this shampoo because I have used a lot of dry shampoos but not any that claimed to be a volumizer as well. I used it solely as a dry shampoo by spraying into my roots like I normally would and I didn't like it. I felt like it made my hair sticky. Then I used it into my roots before teasing my hair prior to putting on hair extensions and it was perfect for just that. Also, this product is great for very fine or thin hair.

7. Benefit Cosmetics They're Real! Push-Up Liner $24

I am a big fan of gel liners because it gives me a lot of control. Particularly, the Maybelline gel liner but I didn't like constantly washing my eyeliner brush and the product drying out fast so I wanted to try this one. I really love this product. It was hard to get used to at first because it's very different. The product has a twist up at the bottom and an angled rubber tip where the gel comes out. Overall, I really like this product.

8. NARS Matte Multiple in Laos $39

I was interested in this product because I was looking for something multitasking for my busy mornings. This color stick provides color for the eyelids, lips, and cheeks. NARS overall is a great company. However, I was a tad disappointed. Not only is this product overpriced in my opinion, but it did not hold up through delivery. I had to send the product back because it was completely destroyed. I own Mary Kay cream blush that is really smooth and easy to blend onto the cheeks and lips. I didn't think this product was very creamy. I will just stick to my Mary Kay.

9. beautyblender Two Original beautyblenders & liquid blender cleanser $39.95

I've tried the beautyblender sponge in the past and fell in love with it as well as the cleanser. The sponge is great for blending in concealer or dabbing on liquid foundation. To keep your sponge in "tip top" shape use the beautyblender cleanser. I used dawn soap when I ran out and it just dried out my sponge and made it crack. This cleanser is wonderful for washing all of your makeup brushes as well.

10. Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo (1.4 oz) $12

I'm a dry shampoo junkie. I'm a believer to not strip your natural your hair of its natural oils. And who doesn't want to save time getting ready? This dry shampoo is heavy duty. If you're looking for a dry shampoo that can soak up a lot of oils by keeping your hair looking natural, this product is the one you need. One downside to this product is the smell. It has a very strong powdery scent. But I have to say, this is the best dry shampoo ever.

11. Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation Mattifying Oil-Free Foundation in Shell $55

I really wanted to like this product. I was interested in the liquid to powder property. I tried everything with this product. Applying with my fingers, a sponge, and a foundation brush. Any way I applied it, the foundation tried to this cakey mess on my face. It was extremely mattifying to the point it made my face look flat and looked like I piled powder on my face. Not to mention, it did not last long at all on me. If you struggle with very oily, greasy skin, this product will work for you.

I hope you enjoyed the recent post! I hope to do more in the next month or so. Have a good day!
